FIFA ranking vs Formline vs World Elo: the women's tables side by side
Three ways of ranking the same women's national teams, all worked out here from the same results, as of 13 October 2026:
- Formline: its own ratings, built on the last 12 years of results and how strong each opponent was.
- FIFA method: FIFA's own ranking formula, calculated by Formline from every match since 1971. It is our calculation, not FIFA's published ranking.
- World Elo: the World Football Elo Ratings formula, best known from eloratings.net, calculated by Formline. It is not eloratings.net's published table.
All three count places among the same 132 teams, the ones Formline ranks. 9 of Formline's top 10 are also in the FIFA method's top 10. Where they disagree, it is mostly down to how each formula weighs friendlies and opponents, and how far back it looks.
